The painting begins with mixed media and texture, to provide an interesting landscape on which to paint. After several layers of acrylic paint, a layer of oil paint is added for richness and depth of color. Once the paint layers have cured, the piece is finished with varnish to provide a non-porous layer to prevent dust and dirt from being embedded in the paint layers beneath.

This sculpted painting is part of the Unlock Series. Embedded within the piece is an actual key. The viewer is invited to find the key. When found, it is your invitation to ask for what you would like unlocked in your life.
